The Volinga Suite is a standalone application for creating and editing 3DGS content, ideal for offline production. Volinga´s Unreal Engine Plugin is for real-time use, letting you render and manage PLY and NVOL files directly within Unreal.
The Volinga Capture Network (VCN) is a global network of capture specialists partnered with Volinga to deliver high-quality 3DGS assets. It streamlines the workflow from capture to final render, making the technology even more accessible for virtual production, VFX, and immersive media. For more details, contact us via the contact form or email us at hello@volinga.ai.
Yes, the Volinga Plugin enables 3DGS assets to interact with scene lighting through a feature called “additive lighting.” This allows light sources in Unreal Engine to affect the 3DGS assets while preserving the original lighting captured during their creation. Additional parameters, such as normal generation method, ambient light, and alpha thresholds, can also be adjusted. Please note that actors do not cast shadows.
The Volinga Plugin for Unreal Engine supports HDR through ACES color spaces and OCIO integration. This ensures accurate color management, enabling high-quality rendering and photorealistic 3D assets in virtual production environments.
Yes! The Volinga Plugin supports direct import and rendering of PLY files created with other software. Just note that removing the Volinga watermark for PLY files requires a Plugin license.
Yes, the Volinga Plugin supports rendering multiple 3DGS simultaneously. You can manage and render several actors within the same level, allowing for complex scene composition.
Yes, the Volinga Plugin fully supports both nDisplay and multi-node rendering in Unreal Engine. You can display 3DGS assets across multiple screens and LED walls, and distribute rendering workloads across several machines for optimal performance. This makes it an ideal solution for high-end virtual production, live events, and immersive installations.
Not yet. The Volinga Plugin requires an NVIDIA GPU, so it is currently only supported on compatible Windows machines.
The Volinga Plugin is optimized for high performance and can achieve up to 30 FPS at 4K resolution when using an NVIDIA RTX A6000 GPU. Performance may vary depending on hardware specifications and scene complexity.
Currently, 3DGS assets rendered with the Volinga Plugin do not cast shadows onto themselves or other 3DGS actors. Additionally, physics interactions are not supported at this time. However, you can combine 3DGS with traditional Unreal Engine assets for full lighting and physics interaction if needed.
Currently, VR functionality is not supported. However, we are actively working on official VR support that will be compatible with all VR headsets. In the meantime, if you’d like to experiment with it, feel free to contact us via the contact form or email us at hello@volinga.ai.
The minimum requirements for using Volinga Suite include Windows 11 as the operating system, an Intel 10th Gen Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 5 3000 series processor (or equivalent), 32GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU.
For the recommended requirements, we suggest using Windows 11 with an Intel 13th Gen i7 or higher, or an AMD Ryzen 7000 series or higher. You’ll also want 96GB of RAM and an Nvidia Quadro RTX A6000 48GB.
To train a 3DGS, you need at least 20 images or a video. For better results, we recommend using at least 100 images or a video of 1 to 2 minutes.
Volinga Suite currently allows you to merge multiple 3DGS assets (splats) into a single scene, making it easy to organize and combine different captures.
However, direct editing, such as cleaning up artifacts, removing unwanted splats, or manual point editing, is not yet supported.
We are actively working to add more advanced editing features in future releases.
Training time depends on your input data or training parameters set in the Volinga Suite, but typically it ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Training issues or slow performance can happen for several reasons, most commonly due to hardware limitations or how the data is accessed. Common causes include:
Slow SSD performance
Insufficient VRAM (GPU memory)
Training from network drives instead of local storage
To improve performance, we recommend training from a fast local drive and, if needed, reducing the image resolution using the Input Data Resolution Scaling option in Volinga Suite. This often resolves delays and increases overall stability.
Yes! Volinga Suite is compatible with data generated by external Structure-from-Motion (SfM) and photogrammetry tools, including Reality Capture and Metashape.
To ensure the best results, we recommend that the external tool outputs camera poses aligned with COLMAP standards. This allows for seamless integration into the Volinga 3DGS creation pipeline.
Volinga Suite supports OpenEXR (.exr) files for HDR and wide color gamut workflows, fully compliant with ACES standards. For detailed instructions on working with EXR files, check out the User Guide (“Volinga Suite User Guide”).
Yes, Volinga Suite supports offline licensing, allowing you to activate and use the software without a constant internet connection. This is ideal for working on secure sites or remote locations.
Volinga Suite exports NVOL files, a native format optimized for use with the Volinga Plugin in Unreal Engine. NVOL preserves all lighting, color, and geometric fidelity for high-quality real-time rendering.
Volinga Suite does not enforce a hard limit on scene size or number of splats. However, practical limits will depend on your hardware, especially GPU VRAM and system RAM availability. We recommend higher-end GPUs (e.g., RTX A6000) for very large or detailed scenes.
Good captures are key to achieving better 3DGS results. Following specific guidelines during the capture process will improve the quality of your 3DGS. For tips and best practices, check out the short tutorials on the Volinga YouTube channel.
You can use any camera you prefer, from a smartphone to a professional high-resolution camera. In general, higher-quality captures result in better splats, although training may take longer with very high-resolution data.
Please note that fisheye lenses and 360-degree images or videos are currently not supported — we recommend using standard field-of-view cameras for optimal results.
To remove the watermark and use your creations commercially, you’ll need to purchase a subscription based on your needs. For detailed information, visit our pricing page. Interested in the enterprise plan? Feel free to contact us via the contact form or email us at sales@volinga.ai.
Volinga offers two different product licenses: Volinga Suite and Volinga Plugin for Unreal Engine.
A Volinga Suite license allows you to create NVOL files without a watermark. Once an NVOL file is generated with an active license, it will remain watermark-free permanently, even when used across other Volinga Suite instances or in Unreal Engine.
A Volinga Plugin license enables you to render PLY files without a watermark. This applies when importing PLYs created with other 3DGS tools — a valid Volinga Plugin license is required to remove the watermark during rendering.
To use your Volinga Plugin License, you need to download the license file and set its path in the Unreal Engine project settings. Detailed instructions are available at: Plugin for UE User Guide .
For your Volinga Suite License, usage depends on your setup:
Online Use: Simply log in to Volinga Suite with your account to activate your license automatically.
Offline Use: The license is tied to a specific device. To generate and apply an offline license file, please follow the instructions at: How to Create an Offline License for Volinga Suite .
Each subscription includes one seat, meaning your license is tied to a single device. Need to switch devices? With the Plugin license, you can do it yourself. With the Suite license, when using an online license, switching will happen automatically. If you are using an offline license, just contact us and we’ll handle it for you.
The Volinga Plugin License allows unlimited render nodes.
Simply copy the license file path to each machine and configure the project settings accordingly to enable rendering across all nodes.
The Volinga Plugin License and Volinga Suite License are two separate products. To render PLY files without a watermark and for commercial use, you must obtain a separate Volinga Plugin License specifically for PLY files.
Yes, as long as you have an active subscription and configure your license in the settings before packaging, your .exe will run on other computers without a watermark.
If your subscription expires, you will lose access to creating new watermark-free assets.
Existing NVOL files created while the Volinga Suite license was active will remain watermark-free. However, you will need an active Plugin license to continue rendering PLY files without a watermark.
An internet connection is required for online license activation. However, Volinga Suite also supports offline licensing for users who need to work in secure or disconnected environments.
The Plugin license requires setting up the license path but does not require constant internet access after configuration.
Currently, subscriptions cannot be paused or suspended. If you cancel your subscription, you would need to start a new one when you are ready to resume.
